Located next to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam’s Museum Park, the depot offers a behind-the-scenes look at 172 years of art history. Over 151,000 artworks are carefully stored and organized across fourteen climate-controlled storage spaces. Visitors can not only admire the impressive collection, but also gain insight into how artworks are managed and preserved. Arriving by car? Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen takes you on a journey through the history of art. Its collection spans Dutch and European masterpieces from the early Middle Ages to the 21st century. You’ll encounter works by renowned artists such as Bosch, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Dalí, alongside highlights of Dutch Design.The museum’s collection has a rich history. In 1849, jurist Boijmans bequeathed his art collection to the city of Rotterdam. In 1958, the museum expanded further with the addition of Van Beuningen’s collection, giving the institution its current name. In addition to paintings and sculptures, the museum holds unique decorative objects as well as an impressive collection of drawings and prints. Temporary exhibitions are presented throughout the year.
