The Collection
The museum displays an impressive collection of Escher's most famous works. Iconic prints such as 'Ascending and Descending', in which figures endlessly climb and descend stairs, and 'Waterfall', in which water mysteriously flows against gravity, can be admired. In addition, there are also lesser-known works from his Italian period and his early woodcuts to discover. Moreover, one of the absolute highlights is the seven-meter-long woodcut 'Metamorphosis III', which is presented in a unique way to emphasize the transition of shapes and patterns.
Furthermore, on the second floor is the interactive exhibition 'Escher's Perspective'. Here, visitors can not only experience optical illusions but also discover how Escher played with infinity and spatial paradoxes. This gives visitors an even better insight into the genius of his work.
